Fort Boise takes special precautions in the storage, handling and packing of our onions.  Our computerized, state of the art storage facilities provide for a quality product throughout the onion storage season.   On the packing line, we consistently sort our onions and grade them to the highest standard.  Only the best product is packed for shipment.  (Top of Page)

As a means of documenting and verifying our commitment to quality, Fort Boise farms, storage and packing facilities are certified by Primuslabs, Inc.  This allows us to assure compliance with the food safety requirements of the food and produce industry.  This certification also provides Fort Boise with a trace back program designed to document the origin of every bag of onions packed at our facility.

To assure that quality onions go into every bag packed at our facility, Fort Boise utilizes the Customer Assisted Inspection Program (CAIP), offered by USDA to grade our onions as they are packed.  CAIP provides Fort Boise Produce with a Federal-State inspection oversight, while we have our own trained, certified inspector onsite at all times during our packing runs.  (Top of Page)

In compliance with good manufacturing practices, Fort Boise incorporates a Trace Recall Program into our quality control procedures.  This is accomplished through the coding of product by identifying onions with a lot number given at the time of harvest.  That coded lot number follows the product from the field, to the storage facility, and to the packing facility where onions are stickered with the coded lot number.  Receivers and customers can then go online to view important food safety information regarding these onions.
